Group description
The Microtest Group is born from Microtest S.p.A., founded in 1999 in Altopascio, Italy (where they have their headquarters), as a designer and manufacturer of automatic test equipment (ATE) and provider of semiconductor test services.
In 2022 Microtest S.p.A. started an word-wide expansion with the help of Xenon Private Equity, wher they embarked to create a European leader in chip design, testing and specialized equipment.
By 2023 they did their first strategic acquisitions with Test Inspire (Netherlands), RoodMicrotec (Germany) and GEDEC (Italy).
In 2024, the expansion continued with the acquisition of ipTEST (UK and Malaysia) and Focused Test (USA and Philippines)
Today the group is much more than a single company, each member of the group is contributing its expertise in SEMI equipment, test services and ASIC design striving for excellence. Together they operate across 13 locations worldwide, with more than 450 employees.
Why was the group created
The Microtest Group was created for three main reasons:
1. To unify expertise – by the aquisition of multiple companies specialized in semiconductor design, test equipment and testing services, the group built a comprehensive platform across the enitre semiconductor area.
2. To scale internationally – with the backing of the Xenon Private Equity banking, the group aimed to achive a true European semiconductor powerhouse that can compete globally.
3. To deliver full-spectrum, high-value solutions – from the ASIC design to the test services and systems, the group was determined to create a full semiconductor value chain across the full spectrum.

Founded in 1999, it is the Group’s headquarters and core company, specializing in Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) design and manufacturing, semiconductor test services, and ASIC design.
Test Inspire (Welsum, Netherlands)
Specialized in advanced semiconductor test methodologies and overshoot/spike detection systems, the company reinforces Microtest’s SEMI equipment pillar with innovative test solutions from it’s Dutch base.
RoodMicrotec (Nördlingen & Stuttgart, Germany)
A long-standing European test service provider offering turnkey chip testing, failure analysis (FA), and quality assurance (QA), strenghtens the Group’s test services network in Germany.
GEDEC (Genoa & Turin, Italy)
An ASIC design house with deep expertise in analog and mixed-signal IC design which expands the Group’s ASIC design and custom applications capabilities through it’s Italian Engineering hubs.
ipTEST (Guilfors, UK & Ipoh, Malaysia)
Industry leader in high-power semiconductor testing for SiC and GaN devices that integrates advanced power device reliability solutions from it’s UK and Malaysian presence into the Group’s portfolio.
Focused Test (Boulder, USA & Cabuyao, Philippines)
Specializes in test equipment and services for SiC and GaN power devices, while extending Microtest’s footprint into North America and Asia, consolidating expertise in wide-bandgap semiconductors.
